Man responsible for vehicle thefts in Henry County arrested

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – A man responsible for two vehicle thefts in Henry County was taken into custody Thursday, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said at around 9:08 a.m. authorities were notified about someone stealing a 2012 Blue Subaru Abreeza from a Family Dollar, located on Virginia Avenue in Collinsville. At 9:18 a.m., a white 2010 Toyota Prius was reported stolen from Printers Lane in Collinsville.

Witnesses of both incidents gave similar descriptions of the suspect.

We’re told on Thursday at around 9:44 a.m., the sheriff’s office recovered the stolen Abreeza at the Collinsville Library. As deputies were recovering that vehicle, a worker at Auto Tech in Collinsville reported a suspect matching the description parked a white Toyota Prius at that location, and fled on foot across the street towards an Econo Lodge on Virginia Avenue.

Authorities responded to both scenes, and the stolen Prius was located at Auto Tech while the suspect, Deangelo Waller, 42, was located in a restricted area of the motel.

He was taken into custody without incident, and charged with two counts of felony grand larceny.

He is currently held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bail.
