Roanoke city welcomes first cat cafe

ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke is welcoming its first cat cafe — it’s called the Kitty City Cat Cafe.

Owners invite you to come in and have a snack, drink, and maybe some cuddles.

The cafe is located inside of the Blue Ridge Indie Market on Salem Avenue.

The cats are currently up for adoption through Angels of Assisi, so if you see one you like you can take it home with you.

The cafe’s goal is to give the cats a way to socialize and get healthier as they prepare for their new homes.

“I would love to see cat cafes become so common that there are no cats in shelters anywhere, that all of them are living really good lives out in comfortable spaces where they can be socialized and loved on and get exercise and fresh air,” owner L.S. Ackerman said.

Reservations are required to visit. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
