How you can prepare for storms, power outages

Ahead of the storm, Appalachian Power is preparing in case there are any outages.

An AEP spokesperson said they have crews in neighboring states on standby, in case there is any damage and they need more manpower.

They also encourage folks to prepare now.

Make sure your generator is working if you have one. Stock up on canned food and check that your flashlights and radios have batteries.

“Now is the time to start making those preparations, because it only takes a couple of seconds, a couple of minutes for a storm to come through, knock down trees, knock down powerlines, and we could be out of power, so, now’s the time to prepare,” said Appalachian Power spokesperson George Porter.

If you need to report an outage, contact AEP.
