‘From Fear to Hope:’ TAP begins fundraising campaign to support domestic violence programs

ROANOKE, Va. – The number of domestic violence cases has increased by 40% in Roanoke between 2022 to 2023.

With more cases, comes a greater demand for help, but federal funding is being cut across the country for programs supporting victims.

Which is why Total Action for Progress, also known as TAP started the “From Fear to Hope” crowdfunding campaign.

It’s in an effort to support the many programs and services TAP provides to victims of domestic violence.

Some of those programs include TAP’s emergency shelter, a 24/7 emergency hotline and Sabrina’s Place, a supervised location for families to meet during required visitations.

“We’re busy. We are busy. It’s hard to imagine when you equate there are more calls, there are more people who need help but yet there is less funding to do the work. To do the good work that we do,” said TAP’s Director of Housing and Human Services, Stacey Sheppard.

A donation as small as $25 can help provide transportation for a victim.
