BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. – Botetourt County Public Schools are putting a renewed focus on mental health resources — with the help of the Botetourt County Rotary Club.
The Rotary Club gifted a $3,000 check to the school system to help cover a portion of their online mental health resources for parents and students.
The Rotary Club tells us the funds came as a part of a grant to help get mental health resources into the community for at-risk youth.
“I’ve noticed that if the parents and the families aren’t on board with it, it almost sabotages the treatment for these kids. So if they’re going to be able to utilize those resources, I think it has to start with that foundational piece with the parents and the families,” Rotary Club member and mental health professional, Dr. Angie Anderson said.
The online resources are free to parents and students, and offer coaching services, as well as answers to common mental health questions. Those resources can be found here.
