Doctors offer advice for spring allergies

ROANOKE, Va. – Medical experts say a warmer winter means an earlier spring and that means you have to prepare yourself for seasonal allergies.

Doctors say if you are experiencing allergies this time of year, you should use a Netty Pot with saline solution before using medication.

They say most people can clear up allergies using the solution, compared to taking over-the-counter medication and if you truly want to protect yourself against allergies, wearing a mask is another option.

“Certainly for people who have severe allergies a mask and avoidance when checking the pollen counts can be a good option, and then moving up for there start using some medication, sinus rinses are the gold standard and you can do this for kids as well,” Dr. Joseph Conduff, ENT said.

Doctors say the most common allergens during the spring are trees, oaks, and birches will impact people the most.
