LPD is reminding residents that members of the police department will never call, text, or send a message demanding or requesting money or personal information for anything, including missed court dates.

Authorities said the scammers may be aggressive, and attempt to keep their victims on the phone until they get what they want, money.

If you receive a phone call like this, you are asked to hang up the phone. You can report this scam to the Federal Trade Commission at 1-877-382-2457 or at www.FTC.gov. You can also call the LPD at (434) 455-6041.
