Forest Park Academy students changing shelter animals lives one painting at a time

ROANOKE, Va. – One art project is the first step to changing a pet’s life.

Forest Park Academy has been creating watercolor art for adoptable pets at Angels of Assisi and Planned Pethood through the Franklin County Humane Society.

The project allows students to get creative with art while having the potential to find a forever home for an adoptable pet in the area.

“Also, an opportunity to show the students that art can affect social change, they can have a voice, they can make things happen and maybe they can help these fur babies find their forever home,” Cricket Maiden, Art teacher at Forest Park Academy said.

“I love her eyes I’m so surprised she’s been there for a year, and I really hope this helps her get adopted I really hope it does,” Kimberly Quarles, a student at Forest Park Academy said.

If anyone wants to adopt an animal, purchase the artwork, or sponsor an adoption you can contact the shelters at the Planned Pethood email clinic@plannedpethoodrockymount.com or Angels of Assisi email eclaridge@angelsofassisi.org
