The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a young boy.
Authorities said on Saturday just after 5:30 p.m., and again on Sunday just before 4 a.m., the Amherst County Communication Center received reports of a boy walking unaccompanied in the 1800 block area of Route 460 East.
The boy is described as an 8 to 10-year-old with blonde hair and wearing a blue flannel shirt.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the area both times and were unable to find anyone fitting the description. Deputies, along with additional resources such as K9s and a Virginia State Police helicopter, are continuing to search the area.
Community members who live in the area are asked to report any suspicious people or activities.
