27-year-old woman charged with arson in connection with Southeast Roanoke fire

A 27-year-old woman has been charged with arson in connection with a Roanoke fire that sent one person to the hospital, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS.

On Wednesday, at about 1:47 p.m., Roanoke Fire-EMS was called to the 1200 block of Dale Ave in the southeast portion of the city.

Once at the scene, crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the residence and located a camper that had caught fire.

Authorities said it wasn’t long before the fire spread to the house and to an adjacent house.

Within an hour, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control.

According to reports, although there were no injuries to Fire-EMS personnel, there was an individual who was hospitalized with burn injuries as a result of the fire.

During the course of the investigation, the Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was set intentionally and was able to identify 27-year-old Farrah Ciarfardini, of Roanoke, as a suspect.

Ciarfardini has been taken into custody and has been charged with arson of an occupied dwelling, authorities said.

She is currently being held at the Roanoke City Adult Detention Center without bond.

The fire left $80,000 in damages, according to authorities.

UPDATE - (11/15/2023)

One person was hospitalized after a fire in Southeast Roanoke, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS.

Officials said the call came in at 1:45 p.m. for the report of the house fire on Dale Avenue SE.

According to Roanoke Fire-EMS, the fire spread to another house nearby, and damage was minimal to the second home.

We’re told the cause has not been determined, and the Roanoke Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
