SALEM, Va. – A Roanoke man has been arrested and charged after robbing a business, according to Salem Police.

On Thursday morning around 10:15 a.m., police said they responded to a robbery in progress at the West Gate Center.
The store employee told officers that a man went into the business and demanded cash from the cashier, who complied with the demand, according to authorities.
We’re told the man quickly left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
After further investigation, officers said they identified the man as 45-year-old Leonard Childress of Roanoke.
Childress was later arrested and charged with two counts of robbery, police said.
He is currently being held at the Roanoke County-Salem Jail where he is currently being held, according to Salem PD.
It was unclear which business the robbery happened at.
