ROANOKE, Va. – An afternoon storm in Roanoke caught many by surprise Sunday.
More than 3,300 people were left without power due to power lines taken down by the storm.
A flash flood warning was issued for Roanoke Sunday afternoon.
The storm was quick, but damage and flooding extended all across the valley.
The winds cracked one tree nearly in half around Ninth Street and Dale Avenue SE.
Just a few streets over on Stewart Avenue SE, flooding left rushing waters and several cars submerged.
But as quickly as it came, the waters subsided.
You can see the remnants of flood waters on Patterson Avenue SW, where the road remained closed due to standing water.
