Around 7:45 p.m., crews said they were dispatched for the report of a fire at the Sevin Hills facility in the 2000 block of Langhorne Road.
We’re told that a fire had started in one of the rooms and was contained by the sprinkler system.
When crews arrived, they said they quickly put out the fire, but smoke from the fire spread, prompting an evacuation for the rest of the facility.
Two residents were sent to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation, according to the department.
The remaining 90 residents were moved outside while crews worked to ventilate and assess the damage, authorities said.
Crews initially reported that all residents would need to be relocated for the night, but most were allowed to go back inside.
Authorities said that there are five rooms considered to be uninhabitable because of the fire and smoke damage.
The Lynchburg Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, and the cause has yet to be determined.
