ROANOKE, Va. – AAA is warning drivers to expect to pay more at the pump.
Statewide, the average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.34, up five cents from last week.
AAA says in Roanoke the average price for a gallon of gas is about $3.24, up five cents from last week, but slightly a dollar cheaper than last year.
While gas prices are cheaper compared to a year ago, one reason for the slight increase is the rise in crude oil prices and more people traveling for the summer.
“We just saw very robust numbers on the roadways for the 4th of July holiday, higher demand at the pumps tends to push pump prices up, and also tends to push crude oil prices up,” Morgan Dean, AAA Mid Atlantic Spokesperson said.
