FloydFest Co-Founder Kris Hodges worked as a talent buyer and led the art team during his tenure as co-founder of the festival, officials said.
“We wish Kris Hodges the absolute best for his future endeavors, and we thank him for his indelible contributions to FloydFest and its enduring brand,” the Across-the-Way Productions team said.
Hodges released the following statement to 10 News on Wednesday in regards to his departure.
As with all inevitable big life changes, leaving the Festival and Companies that I co-founded is bittersweet. But I feel confident that I accomplished everything that I set out to do with this endeavor. I think knowing that it was something that I created gave me a great sense of pride while being there year after year. It was my first Festival child so-to-speak so there’s a certain amount of nostalgia that surrounds that parental care. I did my best to raise that child and hope now that it can make its way in the world. Representing Floyd, Co by way of a national and globally recognized music and arts family friendly event has been an honor. I sincerely love the town and what it represents and appreciate the tremendous amount of support over the years. The town, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, staff, friends, and family that have been involved are a treasured part of my experiences that will go with me for the rest of my life and into whatever new endeavors I do. That’s priceless. Working with talented colleagues at Across-the-Way Productions, Inc in various iterations over 22 years has been an honor, and I will never forget the many things that I experienced and therefore learned there.

This year, FloydFest was canceled after organizers said its new location was not currently viable for a festival. But according to Calhoun, FloydFest is set to return in 2024, at its new venue in Floyd County, FestivalPark.
