ROANOKE, Va. – Local artists are using their craft to benefit animals at the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
They’re able to help make a difference thanks to the “Best in Show” animal art exhibit, which kicks off this weekend. It’s one of the animal shelter’s largest fundraisers.

The opening reception will be held Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Charter Hall at the Market Building. The exhibit will also be open to the public on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
CEO Denise Hayes is excited to see how the fundraiser will benefit shelter pets.
“The quality of artwork submitted to Best in Show this year is truly phenomenal,” said Hayes. “We hope our community comes out to support the artists and the pets in our shelter this weekend at Best in Show. There really is something for everyone!”
Nearly 250 pieces of artwork will be featured in the juried competition. Each piece is available for purchase, with at least 50% of the artwork sales benefiting the shelter.
Tickets to the exhibit can be purchased online here.
