Special Olympics awards ECPI Roanoke with national banner

ROANOKE, Va. – A higher education institution is getting national recognition for inclusion.

Special Olympics awarded ECPI University Roanoke campus, a national banner, “National Unified Champion School,” for efforts to provide inclusive sports to people with disabilities.

ECPI Roanoke also is home to the No Bounds program, which provides education and job-ready skills to people with disabilities.

No Bounds leaders are pleased to get the recognition.

“My proudest moment is this is what we want, to be unified, we want to be together collaborate bring everyone to the table and let’s educate,” Dr. Tina Bhandari, Organizer of No Bounds, said.

Special Olympics officials say ECPI and Virginia Tech are the only two post-secondary schools to receive the honor.
