In celebration of International Women’s Day, many male-dominated industries are celebrating the women who make up their departments.
The Roanoke Police Department is honoring the women who serve the Star City.
Likewise, the Danville Police Department is celebrating all 36 women on staff, 18 of which are officers.
The only woman lieutenant with Danville Police, Erica Land told 10 News the female officers at the department tend to stick together.
“Some things aren’t quite as easy for us at they are for the guys, but the department supports us and it’s been a pretty decent career,” Lt. Land said.
Danville Police also has two women sergeants and another woman corporal.
