Bedford County School Board member responds to assault, battery charges

Thursday’s school board meeting was the first since the incident

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – Bedford County School Board member, Matthew Holbrook, is speaking out after he was arrested on Monday.

10 News spoke with Holbrook during the school board’s meeting on Thursday evening.

“I acted in anger but I do not regret my actions. I do feel that they’re justified,” Holbrook said.

Holbrook has been serving on the school board since Nov. 2, 2021, and represents District 2, which covers Moneta Elementary School, Staunton River High School, and Staunton River Middle School.

Bedford County Schools is currently not making any comment on the matter.

Holbrook is set to have a preliminary court hearing on Feb. 23 at 8:30 a.m.
