“Keeping the school closed on Friday will allow our maintenance staff to aggressively address the issue and remove the rodents from the building,” AHPS said in a release.
We’re told leaders are working closely with the Virginia Department of Health and other agencies to make sure the school is cleaned properly, as well as to take preventative measures to ensure this won’t happen again.
“It is our hope that we can resume classes at Sharon as soon as possible. We will continue to update families as we move forward with this process,” leaders said.
On Friday, Jan. 23, school officials said they are continuing to address the issue, and reiterated that the school is clean, adding that they have a hard-working staff.
“Please also understand that we know Sharon is a very clean school with a very dedicated staff,” leaders said. “We appreciate all of the staff’s ongoing hard work.”
We’re told AHPS officials will release an update about classes resuming by Sunday, Jan. 29, by 7 p.m.
