ROANOKE, Va. – The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine is hosting the annual “Docs for Morgan” basketball fundraiser soon.
Morgan Harrington was a student at Virginia Tech who was abducted and murdered after attending a concert in Charlottesville. Every year, her parents carry on her legacy by holding a fundraiser that benefits people seeking education.
Daniel Harrington, Morgan’s father, said the money raised goes into a scholarship.
“In some ways, it’s not even a matter whether we get money,” Harrington said. “It’s really in many ways for the camaraderie and for the community and for our students and for the doctors.”
Morgan’s father said Thursday marked the 13th anniversary of Morgan Harrington’s body being found.
The game will take place on Feb. 1 at Patrick Henry High School.
