ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATE - 12:02 p.m. Thursday
A man was arrested in connection with a murder in Roanoke Wednesday night, according to the Roanoke Police Department.

Police say at around 8 p.m., police were notified of a person with a gunshot wound in the 700 block of Hunt Avenue NW.
Responding officers located the man with what appeared to be a critical gunshot wound outside of a residence in the area, authorities said.
Roanoke Fire-EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
The suspect had attempted to run away on foot, but officers were able to arrest him without issue, according to police. He was then transported to the Roanoke Police Department to speak with detectives.
Christopher Arias, 20, of Roanoke was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, police said.
RPD said Arias remains in custody, and the suspect and victim were known to one another.
Police said this remains an ongoing homicide investigation.

Police and forensics teams are working a scene at the Afton Gardens Apartments in Northwest Roanoke.
We’re told there is no active threat to the community, and forensics crews are working to take 3D images of the scene.
