How you can celebrate Dr Pepper Day in downtown Roanoke this year

Seven years ago, the City of Roanoke declared Oct. 24 as the official Dr Pepper Day

ROANOKE, Va. – Seven years ago, the City of Roanoke declared Oct. 24 as the official Dr Pepper Day.

This year, Dr Pepper Day will be held in Market Square in downtown Roanoke on Monday (Oct. 24).

“Dr Pepper just wants to come out and say thank you to Roanoke for years of support of the brand for more than 80 years. Of course, the Roanoke Valley has been number one per capita in consumption for many many years, so we are still up there in the ratings, so we just want to thank everyone for being loyal to the brand,” said the President of Dr Pepper Park, Waynette Anderson.

Anderson put together this event each year since.

“October 24 was chosen because of Dr Pepper’s 1927 marketing campaign that suggested enjoying a Dr. Pepper at 10, 2 and 4 each day to keep your energy up. It only makes sense for 10/24 to be Roanoke’s official Dr Pepper Day,” said Anderson.

The celebration of Dr Pepper Day is from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. This is a free event where anyone can come and enjoy live music by Tyler Parrish and receive free Dr Pepper products and goodies.

Dr Pepper also hosted celebrations in Rural Retreat and Lynchburg over the weekend.
