“We’re grateful to provide these boxes of food for people in our community, especially as the holidays are approaching,” said Julie Burnett, God’s Pit Crew Blessing Bucket Program Director. “We are still responding to help victims of Hurricane Ian in Florida, but we’re aware that there are many people in our local community who need a little extra help, as well. We want to thank the Martinsville Speedway for hosting this food distribution and our wonderful volunteers and donors who make this possible.”
The boxes contain two loaves of bread, peanut butter, canned goods, oatmeal, mac and cheese, spaghetti sauce and noodles, paper plates and napkins, and a Bible and devotional. Each box contains a total of 36 pounds of food.
Families are encouraged to pick up two boxes of food per family, and a case of Gatorade or Propel. The event allows up to two families per car, and a representative must be present from each family.
The distribution event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Martinsville Speedway, while supplies last. Enter from Business 220 onto Industrial Park Road, then turn right onto Clover Road, and follow the signs to the Food Distribution.
