HALIFAX, Va. – Halifax County authorities are investigating after an infant was found dead in the yard of a home on Tuesday.
On Tuesday around 6 p.m., Sheriff Fred Clark said the Halifax County 911 center took a call regarding an infant that was possibly dead in the yard of a home on Hummingbird Lane.
The Sheriff said they found the child dead when they arrived at the scene.
After further investigation, authorities were able to identify the mother of the infant, a juvenile, and learned more about the circumstances of the incident.
The remains have been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Richmond, and the Sheriff said they’re waiting on the full report.
We’re told charges are pending, and the investigation is ongoing.
