ROANOKE, Va. – Halloween is just a few weeks away and Roanoke libraries are making sure kids can live out their spooky dreams.
For the first time ever, Roanoke Public Libraries is hosting a free Halloween costume swap.
Through Oct. 24, you can drop off new or used costumes for kids of all ages at any of the RPL branch locations.
Then, you can shop the costume swap on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Melrose Branch Library Fall Festival.
The goal is to help families who might not be able to afford a costume by giving them the opportunity to get in the Halloween spirit.
“A lot of families have been really struggling. And I think just to take one more thing off their list of things they have to worry about for things that they’re having or wanting to provide for their children, so they have that equal opportunity,” said Amber Lowery, the manager of youth services for Roanoke Public Libraries.
The festival and the costume swap will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the Melrose Library in Roanoke.
