SALEM, Va. – The City of Salem is gearing up for the 7th Annual Half Marathon on Saturday.
Runners will take off, run through neighborhoods, Roanoke College, and the Roanoke River Greenway, then cross the finish line at the Salem Farmers Market downtown.
Organizers said they already have 770 runners registered for the race and anticipate getting more than 800 total runners to participate, which would be a big turnout for the event.
“This is an awesome event for Salem. We love bringing people in from out of town, getting them down to Main Street so after the race they can visit some of those businesses. We partner with a lot of them,” said Ashley Durkin, the Salem Recreation Program supervisor.
The Virginia’s Blue Ridge 8K and the Kids Fun Run are also Saturday. Those races start around 8 a.m.
You can participate in the races virtually by registering here.
