Mountain View Humane has also partnered with Tulip Fund to provide a discounted spay/neuter surgery rate. Owners with dogs that look like a pit mix and live in the New River Valley qualify to pay as little as $20.

Sylvie Peterson, Executive Director of Mountain View Humane explains that pit bulls deserve the same care as any other breed.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate pit bulls during National Pit Bull Awareness Month,” said Peterson. “These dogs are often misunderstood, but just like any other pet, we want the pitties in our community to be healthy and happy. Offering rabies vaccines along with heavily discounted spay/neuter surgeries for the pit and pit mixes in our areas will help us do just that!”

Mountain View Humane’s mission is to provide affordable, high-quality spay and neuter services to the general public, local shelters, and rescue groups. To end pet overpopulation, the center has performed over 80,000 surgeries since it began.

Open appointment spots are limited and can be booked by calling 540-382-0222. More information can be found on Mountain View’s website.
