Covington man found guilty in fatal shooting of his father

Roland Jeter Jr. has been found guilty for fatally shooting his father, according to Alleghany County officials (Alleghany County) (WSLS)

COVINGTON, Va. – A Covington man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of his father.

Authorities said that Roland Jeter Jr. shot his father, Roland Jeter Sr., on March 18 on Chestnut Street.

An autopsy report ruled the victim’s cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the head.

Jeter also plead guilty to driving under the influence, a second offense for an incident that happened on Jan. 1.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled in Alleghany County Circuit Court for both charges on Jan. 9, 2023.
