Artist with local ties on ‘The Voice’

How the Roanoke Valley played a key role in getting this singer to The Voice

ROANOKE, Va. – Season 22 of The Voice kicked off on NBC this month and one singer stole the show in the series premiere.

Morgan Myles, from Nashville, had the audience in awe and captivated the judges with a four-chair turn.

“It meant the world to me. I remember crying and crying and crying all day after that because I needed to truly hear that,” said Myles.

Her performance had judges John Legend, Gwen Stefani, Camila Cabello, and Blake Shelton all vying for her to join their team. Cabello made the most compelling pitch.

“You can’t go wrong with any of the coaches, but she turned within four seconds, used her only block within those five seconds on Gwen,” said Myles.

The road to that moment was a long one for Myles, who toured all across the country.

Fans in Southwest Virginia remember her from her shows at Big Lick Brewing in Downtown Roanoke and Mango’s at Smith Mountain Lake.

“Smith Mountain Lake is my family, I freaking love everybody there,” Myles said.

Those gigs all led her to the big stage. While her vocals were on display in front of a national audience with millions of viewers, her humility is one of the reasons she won over the fans.

“Those people that have been in my court since day one are the reason I’m still here, why I haven’t given up, and I want to make them proud,” Myles said.

Her journey continues with the next round of The Voice, the Vocal Battles. Regardless of the outcome of the competition, the performance already put Myles on the map.
