Renovations underway at TAP’s Covington Clothing Closet

With help from Ingevity, the space is being remodeled to become a bigger space

COVINGTON, Va. – Inside Total Action for Progress’ Covington Office are dozens of racks of clothing waiting to be taken home by someone who is in need.

The Covington Clothing Closet offers free clothes, shoes, and household items to people who need them.

“To be a part of a new start for someone is an incredible feeling,” said Angie Campbell, with TAP’s Board of Directors.

Right now, the space is being remodeled to become bigger and better with help from Ingevity.

“They generally partner with a non-profit organization in our community for a three to the five-year partnership. We were selected this year,” said Campbell.

Organizers are hoping to soon offer home goods, appliances, and furniture.

“It will eventually be a one-stop shop sort of situation. We will offer furniture. We will offer housewares. There are shoes, clothing, all sorts of things, everything that you can imagine,” said Campbell.

Organizers are hoping that the renovations will be completed by next year.

Now, the closet is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Donations are also being accepted, specifically for coats and winter items ahead of the colder weather.
