ROANOKE, Va. – WSLS 10 News kicked off this year’s “Home for Good” project in June and now the finish line is in sight!
In a few weeks we will dedicate the home we are building in partnership with Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley, generous community sponsors and volunteers. Now the work is all about putting the final touches on the home.
“It’s all those things that you see when you go in that really kind of put the polish on it and really make it nice and presentable,” said Brian Clark, Habitat Construction Director. “We still have some of our trim to do, our cabinets are going to be going in I think next week, so that’s really exciting. That really puts that finished look on the house. Lots of little painting, touch-up, caulk, that kind of thing.”
Clark said construction work is almost done. “I think we’re probably at about 80-85 percent,” he said. “There’s a lot that still looks like it needs to be done, but a lot of our big infrastructure stuff is completed.”
Clark credits all the people and groups that have volunteered at the site with keeping things on track.
“It’s just wonderful to see the community come out and really support our work for housing and also our support for our families here in the community,” Clark said.
