BLACKSBURG, Va. – UPDATE 3:55 p.m.:
A 20-year-old Virginia Tech student lost his life after a crash on Friday morning just after midnight, according to the Blacksburg Police Department.

Police said that they responded to the 2200 block of S. Main St. after receiving a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
After arriving, officers said they were able to identify the pedestrian as 20-year-old John Wallace Thomasson, of Fairfax.
Virginia Tech officials confirmed that Thomasson was a Virginia Tech junior, who was majoring in biological sciences.
Officials on the scene attempted life-saving measures, but unfortunately, Thomasson succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
Blacksburg Police said the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene of the incident and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

A 20-year-old man lost his life after a crash early Friday morning, according to the Blacksburg Police Department.
Shortly after midnight, authorities were called to the 2200 block of S. Main St. for the report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
After arriving, officers were able to identify the pedestrian as 20-year-old John Wallace Thomasson, of Fairfax.
We’re told officials attempted life-saving measures, but unfortunately, Thomasson did not make it.
Blacksburg Police say the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
