VIRginia International Raceway to host a weekend filled with events

Some of the proceeds from the weekend go to help out the Cameron Gallagher Foundation

ALTON, Va. – Get ready to start your engines because the VIRginia International Raceway is hosting the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin GT Challenge Race.

The weekend of August 26 to the 27th, you can watch the exciting race and get a close-up look at the cars. You can even meet the drivers.

The Michelin GT Challenge is the featured race, but the entire weekend is jam-packed with activities. This includes testing, qualifying, car corrals, team chats, tech talks and more.

Fans can ride around the Patriot Course with a driver, during car corrals with Porsche, Corvette and BMW.

Connie Nyholm, the Co-Owner of the VIRginia International Raceway says, “It is a jam-packed weekend and that is just the way we like it. We have got all kinds of support races for the Michelin GT Challenge WeatherTech Championship, which is the feature race on Sunday. Then we have the Virginia is for Racing Lovers Grand Prix, which will be on Saturday. That will be a feature of every possible sexy car you could imagine.”

Some of the proceeds from the weekend go to help out the Cameron Gallagher Foundation.

“Cameron, that was her passion, teen mental health. So we do a really neat go-kart event to raise awareness and raise funds with pro drivers,” says Nyholm.

Tickets for the weekend are available online and kids 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
