ORIGINAL STORY

Police in Danville are asking for the public’s help in identifying and finding suspects, a suspect vehicle and finding a person that was charged in a shooting on Monday.

On Monday around 5:15 p.m., Danville Police said officers responded to the 100 block of North Avenue for reports of gunfire.

Authorities found that people inside of a gold SUV drove past a group of people in the area and opened fire. Police said a man in the group fired back at the SUV as it drove away on North Avenue.

Police are searching for Xzvaion Smith, 18, who has been charged with attempted malicious wounding, shooting at an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Smith has not been found and police are asking for the public’s help in the search. Authorities do not have a photo of Smith available.

Police said they believe that the people involved in this incident know each other and that this is not a random act of violence.

A parked car and a home were hit by gunfire during this incident, according to police.

Investigators said the SUV appears to be a gold GMC Terrain or Chevy Equinox.

Authorities believe that the vehicle was also involved in a separate shots fired incident around 7 p.m. in the 2100 block of Riverside Drive, where police said they believe that two vehicles exchanged fire at a stoplight.
