Memorial golf outing held in memory of little girl

Layla Jo Walters Memorial Golf Outing raised money for congenital heart disease on Friday

ROANOKE, Va. – A life-saving legacy: the inaugural Layla Jo Walters Golf Outing teed off on Friday at the Blue Hills Gold Club in Roanoke.

The fundraiser was held in honor of a baby who had a congenital heart defect and died in 2019.

Matt and Kristen Walters have been planning the event since the devastating loss.

With the help of Matt’s employer, Buffalo Wild Wings, they were able to raise money for an organization that supports CHD research, awareness, and resources.

“They’re just there to support those families in any way... whether that’s emotional whether that’s financial... whether its a place to stay, whatever it may be. They play an intricate part in our lives when we spent a month and a half of our lives at UVA in Charlottesville and they were there the entire step of the way,” Matt said.

30 teams participated in the outing.
