ROANOKE, Va. – It may not be November quite yet, but it’s already time to start planning ahead for events around Thanksgiving.
The Roanoke Rescue Mission is looking for volunteers for the 2022 Drumstick Dash. There are a variety of needs including packet pick-up, and day-of volunteers for registration, course marshals, awards, and more.
This year, the rescue mission is also introducing an ambassador program to help promote the race beforehand.
The Drumstick Dash is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Rescue Mission and helps them to provide over 100,000 meals a year.
”That’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner for adults that are going to work and need a good meal before they show up. 100,000 meals that are going to children that are going to school,” Kevin Berry, Roanoke Rescue Mission’s Community Outreach and Marketing Manager said. “So this means everything to our guests and that means everything to us.”
Applications for ambassadors close Monday night, but you can volunteer any time.
