Community comes together to raise money for people in need

TROUTVILLE, Va. – A local organization is continuing its tradition of helping communities here and abroad.

Global Partners in Peace and Development is hosting its 11th annual proceeds for poverty sale.

Members of the community donated all sorts of items to the sale.

Anyone can buy furniture, electronics, toys, and even larger items like canoes and the proceeds from the sale will go to local charities and people in need throughout the community and across the globe.

“It’s really amazing. To be able to be a part of helping people in need. And the great thing is we get to do it with a lot of wonderful volunteers. Really, it’s a community effort,” said Jonathan Grooms, president of Global Partners in Peace and Development.

The sale is Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church in Troutville this weekend.
