Roanoke Area Ministries receives new transportation

The van will help with transportation and supply pickups

ROANOKE, Va. – A local organization is raring to go after receiving a new set of wheels.

Roanoke Area Ministries House was recently able to purchase a new van through the help of the Good Neighbor Fund Campaign.

The new transportation is crucial to their mission and will be used to carry supplies and food, as well as to transport people who may not be able to walk to and from the Roanoke Rescue Mission.

This gives the organization the ability to further help those struggling with homelessness and hunger during the day.

“When we do the Good Neighbor’s Fund they ask us for big-ticket items, what we really need. And I said, ‘we need a van,’ but I never really thought it would happen, because that’s a pretty big-ticket item,” said RAM executive director, Melissa Woodson.

RAM House is now looking for volunteers to drive their new van for pickups.
