ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – Beer lovers in the Roanoke Valley will soon be able to try a new brewery in Franklin County.
Living Proof Beer Company is a first-of-its-kind microbrewery in the heart of downtown Rocky Mount.
The name came from a quote Benjamin Franklin is believed to have once said, “Beer is living proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
For head brewer, Rob Amos, this brewery is a dream come true.
“I’ve had an idea forever to open up a brewery,” he said.
The dream came to life when he met Jim Garner.
The pair decided to build a brewery overlooking downtown Rocky Mount and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
“I really think it’s something that the town has been starving for,” said owner, Jim Garner.
Although the beers are microbrews, the flavors are “lager” than life.
“We’re going to try and put out a wide variety of beers. Anything from a seltzer, all American light, porters all the way to a West Coast IPA,” said Amos.
The brewery opens Friday, June 10 at noon. There will be live music and food trucks.
