Organization hosts spring bedding drive to help New River Valley kids in need

Sleep in Heavenly Peace hopes to collect 100 bedsheets since they’re building 70 beds this weekend

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – An organization in the New River Valley is holding a Spring Bedding Drive this weekend to help kids in need.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace builds and delivers beds to children who don’t have one.

The NRV chapter is building 70 beds this weekend and is collecting twin bed sheet sets to go along with them.

Their hope is to collect more than 100 bedsheets to distribute.

“When we take a bed to a kid’s home, we take this wood frame we’ve built, a brand new mattress that we’ve purchased, and then we put on and make up all-new sheets. Pillowcase, sheets, comforter, blanket, etc,” chapter president Paul Mele.

While solid color sheets are accepted, fun, themed sheets, like unicorns, dinosaurs and sports, are encouraged.

The Spring Bedding Drive is Saturday, April 23rd from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3275 North Franklin in Christiansburg.

If you’re unable to drop off sheets, you can donate through SHP’s Amazon wishlist.
