Family displaced after Campbell County brush fire, drivers asked to avoid part of Stage Road

Luckily, no one was injured in the fire

RUSTBURG, Va. – The Campbell County Department of Public Safety is asking that drivers avoid a portion of Stage Road as crews continue to monitor the site of a brush fire.

On Sunday at about 12:32 p.m., Campbell County 911 received a report of the fire on Archer Mill Road, which is off the 3000 block of Stage Road. The fire advanced toward Truline Drive due to windy conditions and eventually spread to a single-family home, a shed, other outbuildings and four cars.

As a result of the fire, a family has been displaced. The Red Cross has already been notified and will be assisting them.

Luckily, no one was injured in the fire.

At this time, residents are asked to avoid the area of 3000 block of Stage Road, near Archer Road and between Spencer Road and Columbus Road, as crews continue to monitor the area.

According to officials, crews were able to contain the fire to 10 acres of land and all fires were contained at about 3:45 p.m.

About 40 emergency response units reported to the scene to assist with the blaze.

Citizens are advised that current weather conditions mean a higher risk of fires in our area. The 4 p.m. Burning Law is in effect until April 30, restricting open-air burning until after 4 p.m. daily. Officials ask that you please refrain from burning in high wind situations; however, if you have to, it must be done after 4 p.m.
