Lunch with the Law encourages community to get to know law enforcement

Police officers and troopers greeted guests at Chick-fil-A in Salem

SALEM, Va. – Local law enforcement are hoping to build relationships in the community. That was the goal of an event Thursday at the Salem Chick-fil-A.

Police officers and troopers greeted guests at the door with coupons and even helped in the drive-thru lane.

“It’s just a great partnership. They allow us to interact with customers as they come in in a relaxed atmosphere. Anytime we can interact with the community in a non-enforcement way, that builds community trust,” said Salem Police Chief Mike Crawley.

The department also hopes to use events like this to recruit police officers and 911 dispatchers.
