Strong winds have knocked out power to thousands across our viewing area.

Below are the worst outage areas among the 1,750 Appalachian Power customers in Central Virginia and Southwest Virginia as of 5 p.m.:

Here’s a breakdown of the 36 Southside Electric Cooperative customers in our region without power as of 5 p.m.:

• Campbell County - 26
• Charlotte - 10

Here’s a breakdown of the 66 Dominion Energy customers in our region without power as of 5 p.m.:

• Rockbridge County - 36
• Halifax County - 21
• Charlotte County - 6
• Pittsylvania County - 3
