ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATE
A boy under 18 has been charged with felony eluding and hit-and-run after a police chase in Northwest Roanoke on Wednesday, according to police.

Officers said they were dispatched to the 1500 block of Syracuse Ave. NW for reports of shots fired.
While responding to the area, a Roanoke police officer saw a vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed.
The officer said they tried to stop the vehicle but the suspect car didn’t stop, leading to a pursuit which ended with the car crashing on the 13th Street NW near Hanover Ave. NW.
The boy inside the car ran away from the scene and was apprehended shortly after, police said. There were also two girls that are under 18 inside the car, according to police.
All three minors were checked out by Roanoke Fire-EMS as a precaution and no serious injuries were reported, police said.
The boy who officers said ran away from the scene was charged with felony eluding and hit-and-run and was taken to the Roanoke Valley JuvenileDetention Center without any issues, according to Roanoke police.
This is an ongoing investigation.

One person is in custody after a traffic stop in Northwest Roanoke, according to the Roanoke City Police Department.
Authorities said the pursuit ended at 13th Street NW and Staunton Ave. NW on Wednesday morning when a driver refused to stop.
The driver was taken into custody, police said.
