SALEM, Va. – A crash that happened on Union Street in Salem is causing delays on Friday.
This comes after the 911 Salem Center received a call at 3:35 p.m. that a late model Subaru had hit a train at the Norfolk Southern crossing at Union Street.

Crews and Salem Police arrived at the scene to find that the driver of the car was alive with unknown injuries. The man, who was the only person in the car, was later transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
At this time, the incident is under investigation and the Union Street crossing will be closed in both directions for several more hours, per police.
