Roanoke police identify shooting victim as 21-year-old William Fleming graduate

ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke Police Department released the name of the 21-year-old woman shot and killed early Wednesday morning.

Lindsey Shook, 21, of Troutville, was shot in the 3900 block of Melrose Avenue NW, according to police.

Roanoke Fire-EMS personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

Shook graduated from William Fleming High School in Roanoke in 2018.


UPDATE

A woman is dead after authorities said she was shot overnight in Northwest Roanoke.

The shooting happened at 12:15 a.m. in the 3900 block of Melrose Avenue NW, according to the Roanoke Police Department.

Officers said that when they arrived they found an unresponsive woman in a car with critical injuries and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said her identity will be released once next-of-kin is notified.

Authorities said they also found a man with critical injuries inside a nearby business and he was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

No suspects were found at the scene and no arrests have been made, according to police. Authorities said this is an ongoing homicide investigation.

One person is in the hospital after a shooting in Roanoke early Wednesday morning, according to the Roanoke Police Department.

Authorities said the shooting happened around 1 a.m. on Melrose Avenue NW near the Shell Station.
