ROANOKE, Va. – 10 News has learned that Camden Brown is the boy who died after being shot on Monday in Roanoke, according to his family.

Camden, who was 8 years old, attended Garden City Elementary School, according to the school division.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched. Just hours after launching the campaign, donations have exceeded the $4,000 goal, which has since been raised to $8,000. The money donated will help offset funeral costs and take care of other needs like counseling for his brothers and sisters.

A boy has died after a shooting in Roanoke on Monday evening, according to police.

Authorities said that the boy was under 10.

The shooting happened in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive SE around 5:40 p.m., officers said.

Authorities said no other information will be released at this time.

A child is in the hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in Roanoke Monday evening.

Roanoke police responded to a home in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive SE for reports of a shooting that happened at about 5:40 p.m.

Officers arrived to find a boy under 10 years old suffering from a serious gunshot wound. He was later transported to the hospital for his injuries.

Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
