LYNCHBURG, Va. – Virginia Senator Tim Kaine weighed in on President Biden’s visit to Europe and said it sends a ‘strong statement.’
The Democratic senator believes the trip will strengthen U.S. relations with European nations for security and military alliances, as well as economic and humanitarian discussions.
He said it’s vital to rekindle the bond after former President Trump threatened to remove the U.S. from NATO.
“This is an important time for the U.S. to reassure our allies that we’re at the table, that we’re not backing away from it, that we’re not looking to shed ourselves of alliances or get out of treaty obligations that we’ve had for decades,” said Kaine.
He added the alliance will also show strength ahead of the upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
