MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – Early voting for the June primary started Friday in Virginia, but on Saturday the focus will be on the 7th district.
Three Republicans are facing off in a firehouse primary with the goal to replace Del. Nick Rush as he will not be seeking reelection.
Sherri Blevins, Lowell Bowman and Marie March are looking to represent Floyd, Montgomery and Pulaski counties.
7th Legislative District GOP Chairman Gene Bishop said voters will also sign a “loyalty oath” to assure they vote for the party’s nominee in November.
Expecting to see about a thousand voters show up, Bishop encourages voters to make their voices heard.
”You make your choice about who ‘I want to represent me’ of the three,” he said. “They’re going to be passing laws for or against you.”
All voters must bring identification when they vote in person at any of the three locations:
- Floyd County – Jessie Peterman Library, 321 W. Main St. Floyd, Va. 24091
- Montgomery County-Montgomery Government Center, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg Va. 24073
- Pulaski County – New River Fairgrounds, Farris Building, 5581 Fairgrounds Circle, Dublin, Va. 24084
The firehouse primary will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
